Summer camps are led by our talented faculty and friends of Paideia. Your children will enjoy enhancing skills, learning new ones, and building relationships throughout the summer months.

All camps are open to both Paideia students and non-students. Paideia families are encouraged to participate and invite their friends.

Strategy Board Games with Mrs. Nerge

Board Game Camp will be a fun and engaging way to develop a variety of skills. Some key skills they may learn are critical thinking, teamwork, communication, math & social skills, patience & focus, creativity & so much more!

Metal Detecting with Dr. Turnbough

Camp 101: June 2-6 | M-F 9 AM – 12:15 PM

Camp 102: July 14-18 | M-F 9 AM – 12:15 PM

Metal detecting camp is a hands-on camp. You will learn how to operate the machines, recognize good targets, dig proper plugs, clean & preserve finds, and more! As part of the training, each student will dig and get to keep their own Civil War Minie ball bullet, silver mercury dime, buffalo nickel, and wheat penny. We will meet at Paideia for two/three days and then at a nearby site for exposure to different target environments. This camp can accommodate 6-8 (per camp) without detectors – they will share one of the instructor’s detectors. Students should bring and use their own metal detector if they have one (please email Dr. Turnbough before the camp if you plan to bring one, so he can plan ahead). 

Bug Camp with Dr. Turnbough

Bugs Galore Camp:  Grades 2nd – 5th | June  9-13 | M-F 9 AM – 12:15 PM

Bugs Blitz Camp: Grades 6th – 12th | June  23-27 | M-F 9 AM – 12:15 PM

Bugs Galore: At this camp you will learn how to identify all major groups of insects and spiders, examine live specimens, search for bugs outdoors, and learn how to capture them! No prior experience with bugs necessary!

Bug Blitz: This camp is geared toward older students who are interested in being able to identify insects and spiders (bugs) in our area! We will spend half our time learning how to use online and in-print resources to identify bugs to an ecologically-meaningful level (usually family), and the other half of our time we will capture bugs with a variety of capture techniques. No prior experience with bugs necessary!

This Basketball Camp is designed to build confident young athletes and cultivate character from the inside out. Through skill training, competitive drills, and intentional mentorship, your child will be challenged to grow—not just in their game, but in their discipline, attitude, and leadership. Every morning will begin with a short devotional in God’s Word, grounding our time in biblical truth and helping each camper connect the game they love with the God who made them. Your athlete will leave stronger, more focused, and more confident—both on and off the court.

Herp Camp 101: We will learn the identification and general natural history of southeastern reptiles and amphibians, with emphasis on locally abundant native species. Our activities will include the examination and handling of live specimens, learning responsible herp searching and capture techniques, checking herp coverboard arrays, and learning to recognize local grog calls.

Mystery Treasure Adventure Camp with Mrs. Csider

Embark on an exciting quest filled with mystery, scavenger hunts, and secret codes. Campers will solve puzzles, follow hidden clues and uncover treasures — all while discovering the greatest treasure of all through engaging Bible stories. Join us for a week of adventure and teamwork! 

Ballet Camp with Ella Deel

Grades 1st – 4th | June 16-20 | M-F  9 AM to 12 PM

The camp is designed to introduce young dancers (or aspiring dancers) to the joy of ballet in a fun and educational way. Each day will consist of learning warm-up stretches, learning basic ballet steps and techniques, storytelling through dance, and reading about a famous ballerina, and using simple props & costumes! Snacks will be provided, and there will be an end-of-the-week showcase for the parents!

Chess Camp with Mr. Duggan

Grades K – 12th | June 23-27 | M-F 1 PM – 4 PM

Learn the fundamentals of chess, strengthen strategic and tactical skills, play and analyze games. No previous experience required.

Girls Basketball Camp with the Aanestads

Join us at Grace Lutheran for Girls Basketball camp. Lots of dribbling, shooting, and developing offensive and defensive skills, while having fun!

Art Camp with Mrs. Fancher

We will be working on a painting, a colored pencil drawing, and a black and white pencil drawing. One will be a landscape, one will be an animal and the other a still life.

Theatre Camp with Mr. Csider

Calling all young performers to step into the spotlight and explore the world of acting! Through fun theatre games, character-building exercises, and improvisation challenges, students will learn basic theatre terms, stage techniques, and skit writing — all while building confidence and teamwork!

Computer Building with Mr. Gentry

Creative Kids Summer Camp with Mrs. Csider

At creative camp, students will be hands-on with arts and crafts that spark imagination and creativity! From painting to sculpting to collage, to DIY crafts, campers will explore different art techniques while expressing themselves in colorful, messy, and magical ways. Each day will bring a new theme/materials for young artists who love to create and play!

Tennis and Pickle Ball Camp with Mrs. Monge

Tennis Camp: Grades 3rd – 12th | July 14-18 | M-F 8 am – 10 am

Pickle Ball Camp: Grades 3rd – 12th | July 14-18 | M-F 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
