Paideia Academy’s Upper School includes the Schools of Logic & Rhetoric. These are exciting years in a student’s development, both personally and academically, as students build upon their knowledge acquired through our Grammar School to enter into the Great Conversation, pursuing understanding, wisdom, excellence, and virtue. We seek to encourage each student to reach his or her full potential by building relationships within a challenging and nurturing learning community.
The School of Logic teaches formal logic and reasoning skills through tools like the Socratic Method and Aristotelian Logic. These subjects train students in the science of accurate thinking and subject integration, allowing them to “argue” intelligently, effectively, and respectfully. The School of Rhetoric teaches students to discern the rhetoric inherent in the world and provide them with the skills necessary to create and interact with that rhetoric by speaking and writing well.
Integration between academic subjects and a biblical worldview is fundamental to our mission. We use an integrated curriculum of humanities, arts, and sciences, called Omnibus, throughout our upper school. The students are led through the study of the great works from the dawn of time up through the modern day, connecting historical events and ideas to one another and making application to current events, seeing God’s sovereignty over all and glorifying Him in all.
