COVID-19 Updates

This page is to keep families up to date with the school’s COVID-19 protocols and updates throughout the school year.

We commit to monitor closely the happenings in our community and to revisit/change these recommendations as needed.

2021-2022 School Year

Covid Policy Addendum, September 17, 2021 – With the rise of Covid cases in our area and the fact that we have seen the virus spread quickly through families who have already been in quarantine, the COVID Taskforce has recommended to make an adjustment to our current quarantine policy. These recommendations were approved by the Board and will be effective immediately:

Should anyone in your household test positive for Covid, the entire household will need to quarantine for 10 days from the onset of the positive person’s symptoms. Members in the home may return to school after 10 days with no symptoms, or after 7 days with no symptoms AND a negative PCR test (not rapid).

Each family received an email communication from school nurse Lindsey Kant about updated protocols related to communicating positive cases. Please read this important email so that you will know what to do in the case of a positive Covid diagnosis in your home.

2020-2021 School Year

Update, May 4, 2021 – After the recent lifting of the mask mandate in Knox county and the consistent low case numbers, the Paideia COVID Taskforce has recommended that we move to a “mask optional” campus effective immediately. If you or your child would like to continue wearing a mask on campus, please feel free to do so. We want you to have the freedom to do whatever you feel is best for your family.

Paideia will be reopening for the 2020-2021 school year on Monday, August 3, 2020. We are thankful that you have chosen to continue with us. The Lord has blessed our school. We long for God to deepen our faith through this crisis.

The Paideia Board of Trustees and Administrative Team, as well as our Technology Taskforce, have been reviewing guidelines from sources including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Centers for Disease Control, local medical professionals, the local health department as well as getting feedback from teachers and parents. From these sources, we have created guidelines for our specific community with the goal of in-person face-to-face learning as long as it is possible.

Please see the school calendar in your FACTS portal for the latest event updates and cancelations.

Nota Bene: This plan is subject to change as the pandemic situation is better understood regarding school settings. Please continue to check this page for updates.
